The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) joined other agencies of the UN Country Team in China to exhibit projects and solutions at the 2026 Green and Low-Carbon Expo (GLCE) and the 2026 International Engineering Construction Expo (IECE), held from 16 to 18 September 2026 at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin, China.

As part of the exhibition space of the United Nations agencies in China, coordinated by UNDP China Country Office, CSAM’s booth showcased its projects on advancing sustainable agricultural mechanization and supporting green and low-carbon transformation of agrifood systems in the Asia-Pacific region.

A key focus of CSAM’s booth was its Regional Initiative on Integrated Straw Management, which promotes sustainable agricultural mechanization solutions and technologies for the productive and environmentally sound management of agricultural residues, in order to prevent its open burning and environmental impacts. Through information materials and exchanges with visitors, CSAM shared experiences and approaches developed and adapted in pilot sites in China, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand and Lao PDR since 2019. These include the utilization of machinery adapted to local needs to collect straw to be used in a circular model of integrated straw management as fertilizer, fodder and base materials, contributing to more productive, inclusive, resilient and environmentally sustainable agriculture.

Participation in the expos provided an opportunity for CSAM to promote knowledge sharing, partnerships and regional cooperation on sustainable agricultural mechanization, circular approaches and green practices for agrifood systems transformation. It also facilitated exchanges with other United Nations agencies working on climate action and technological innovation for sustainable development, contributing to efforts towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Country Development Framework Joint Work Plan and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region.

Covering approximately 100,000 square metres, the two expos comprised 14 specialized exhibition zones and brought together 558 exhibiting enterprises. More than 500 international buyers and visitors from 80 countries, as well as 12 international delegations, participated in the event. Over the three-day exhibition, CSAM’s booth welcomed approximately 200 visitors, providing a platform to raise awareness of sustainable agricultural mechanization solutions and exchange knowledge and experiences with stakeholders from China and abroad.
