
On 25 October 2025, a ceremony was held to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Machinery Engineers – National Research University (TIIAME-NRU) of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The ceremony took place during the Training and Study Tour of the Regional Council of Agricultural Machinery Associations in Asia and the Pacific (ReCAMA), organized alongside the 2025 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition in Wuhan, Hubei, China.
Mr. Adnan H. Aliani, Director of the Strategy and Programme Management Division of ESCAP, delivered remarks via a video message, while Mr. Bakhtiyar Khudayarov, Vice Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Machinery Engineers – National Research University (TIIAME-NRU) of Uzbekistan, addressed the ceremony with a speech.
Through its Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), ESCAP and TIIAME-NRU will work together to leverage their respective strengths, expertise, and networks to advance sustainable agricultural mechanization in the Asia-Pacific region. Both parties are committed to pursuing joint initiatives in research, seminars and workshops, training and capacity development, and youth engagement, with a particular focus on promoting innovative and proven mechanization-based technologies and practices that can drive sustainable agricultural transformation across the region.
TIIAME-NRU is a leading higher education institution in Uzbekistan, specializing in water resource management, irrigation, agricultural mechanization, and related engineering disciplines. While in Wuhan, representatives of TIIAME-NRU also participated in workshops and study visits to agricultural machinery manufacturers as well as research and educational institutions to explore collaboration opportunities and strengthen partnerships under this new framework.
