The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) attended the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Agriculture (WGA) held from 9 to 11 September 2025 in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Chanthanet Boualapha, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Lao PDR, and Dr. Jiangfeng Zhang, Director of Agriculture, Food, Nature and Rural Development Sector Office at ADB, the meeting convened delegates from the six countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion and other key stakeholders including development partners, private sector representatives and regional organizations, to advance the transformation of agrifood systems in the subregion.

Under the theme “Transforming Agrifood Systems: Priorities for the Greater Mekong Subregion Agriculture Sector Program to 2030”, the meeting reviewed progress under the GMS Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program (SAFSP), and served as a platform to share country priorities, and co-create strategies for the next phase of regional cooperation, in particular the next five years of the GMS 2030 Kunming Strategic Framework for Transforming the Agrifood Systems. CSAM contributed to discussions on enhancing climate-smart and inclusive agrifood value chains, promoting digital innovation in agriculture, and strengthening regional public goods such as harmonized standards frameworks and interoperable certification systems.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement and regional integration in achieving resilient, safe, and sustainable agrifood systems across the Greater Mekong Subregion. CSAM remains committed to supporting the agriculture sector through technical assistance, policy dialogue, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with the GMS 2030 Kunming Strategic Framework.
