On 27th October 2021, the 2021 China Agricultural Robot Competition, organized by China Agricultural University with the support of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural mechanization (CSAM) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), was convened in Qingdao City, China alongside the 2021 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition. Mr. Anshuman Varma, Deputy Head and Programme Officer of CSAM, delivered video remarks in the Award Ceremony to congratulate the organizers.

This is the fourth year of the collaboration between CSAM and the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University to support the organization of the event. Since 2018, CSAM has sponsored students from Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to visit China and take part in the Competition which has provided a platform for sharing of knowledge and exchange of expertise on agricultural machinery and robotics among the youth at the regional level. In continuation of these efforts, and in order to widen the impact of the Competition in 2021, CSAM is planning to support the winning team from this year’s Competition to participate in a relevant event/activity in future to provide additional exposure and learning opportunities for agricultural engineering students in the area of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and innovation.
