Courtesy call to Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science

ESCAP-CSAMDr. Adrianus G. Rijk, Director of APCAEM paid a courtesy call to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS) on 24 May 2005. He had a friendly discussion with Prof. ZHAI Huqu, President of CAAS. Prof. Zhai expressed his willingness of cooperation with APCAEM in the fields of mutual interest, such as rural energy, conservation agriculture. He invited the Director to visit his affiliated research institutes.
 
CAAS is a national-level agricultural research organization of China. There are 39 affiliated research institutes, a graduate school and an Agricultural Scientech Press. Among the 39 institutes, 16 are engaged in plant research, 10 in animal husbandry, 8 focus on economy and environment, and 5 are committed to agricultural engineering and new technology.
